Tony Rowles

Litigation Associate

When I joined Irell, I knew that cases were staffed leanly and junior associates were expected to take on key case responsibilities very early in their careers. What I learned was that early responsibility is really a fundamental part of the Irell culture. One of my first assignments at Irell was drafting an important discovery motion. Later that year, I examined an expert witness at a jury trial with hundreds of millions of dollars at stake. In between, I drafted several motions, defended a deposition, presented to clients, negotiated with opposing counsel, and managed several expert reports. That kind of experience as a first-year associate is not possible without partners who are constantly working to give junior associates critical tasks on cases, even at trial when the stakes are highest. Irell's team culture has accelerated my development as a lawyer and made the practice of law enjoyable and interesting every day.
