September 2009

Three Irell & Manella LLP partners -- Morgan Chu, Brian Hennigan, and John Hueston -- have been named to the San Francisco and Los Angeles Daily Journal's 2009 list of the top 100 lawyers in California.

Morgan Chu was recognized for his representation of City of Hope against Genentech. City of Hope recovered over $500 million from Genentech. Chu was also recognized for his representation of TiVo against EchoStar. EchoStar has been ordered to pay TiVo over $400 million in damages and sanctions.

Brian Hennigan was recognized for his successful representation of persons accused of a variety of federal crimes and, on the civil side, his representation of the winning side in a dispute over control of a closely-held corporation. Hennigan is the national chair of the ABA White Collar Crime Committee.

John Hueston was recognized for litigation and criminal defense, and specifically for closing criminal investigations involving UCI's Liver Transplant Program and for his successful representations of UCLA and Kaiser Permanente for matters involving celebrity health privacy issues. Before joining Irell, Hueston was a lead trial attorney for the Enron trial against Lay and Skilling and a former Chief in the Criminal division of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Central District of California.

Chu, Hennigan, and Hueston are all accomplished trial lawyers with active nationwide litigation practices. In the last two years, six Irell lawyers have appeared on the Daily Journal's Top 100 list.
