The Daily Journal Names Chu, Hattenbach, Iancu and Kagan as Top IP Litigators

The Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journal has named four Irell lawyers to its list of the "Top 75 Intellectual Property Litigators" in California. Recognized in the April 18, 2012 article are Morgan Chu, Ben Hattenbach, Andrei Iancu and Jon Kagan. No firm had more attorneys on the list.

Morgan Chu was recognized for his work on behalf of TiVo Inc., most notably securing a combined total of more than $825 million paid to TiVo Inc. to settle two separate patent infringement lawsuits, one against Dish Network and EchoStar and one against AT&T. Chu’s victories on behalf of Novellus Systems Inc. and St. Jude Medical were also noted.

Ben Hattenbach was honored for successfully representing Tessera in a patent enforcement litigation that ended up before the International Trade Commission, as well as defending Diodes Inc. in a patent infringement suit brought by Integrated Discrete Devices LLC.

Managing Partner Andrei Iancu was noted for his role in the successful representation of longtime client TiVo Inc. in its patent infringement dispute with Dish Network and EchoStar, as well as settling another case for TiVo against AT&T. He was also recognized for successfully defending eBay Inc. in two patent infringement suits.

Jonathan Kagan was recognized for the recent California appellate court ruling upholding his earlier victory on behalf of Novellus Systems Inc., ending a decade-long legal battle against Linear Technology Corp., in addition to obtaining a dismissal of a suit filed against his client Juniper Networks.
