Holly  Gershow

Holly Gershow is an associate in the Los Angeles office of Irell & Manella LLP, where she is a member of the firm's litigation practice group. Ms. Gershow’s practice encompasses a broad range of complex litigation matters in federal and state courts at both the trial and appellate levels. Her experience includes defending companies and corporate officers in securities actions, derivative cases, general commercial litigation, white collar defense, and intellectual property.

Ms. Gershow received her J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School, where she was the production editor of the Harvard Negotiation Law Review and vice president of the Committee on Sports and Entertainment Law. She earned her B.A., cum laude, from the University of Florida.

Representative Matters

  • Won motions to dismiss several securities fraud lawsuits brought by investors in mortgage-backed securities against the former CEO of the nation’s one-time largest mortgage originator.
  • Won motions to dismiss lawsuits brought by state Attorneys General alleging violations of state consumer protection statutes against the former CEO of the nation’s one-time largest mortgage originator. 
  • Won motion to dismiss securities fraud action brought against major motion picture company for alleged fraud in connection with plaintiffs’ investment in slate of films.
  • Defended national restaurant chain in a lawsuit filed by a franchisee alleging breach of contract and fraud. A settlement was reached on the eve of trial.
  • Represented Natural Resources Defense Council in the Ninth Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court in action challenging failure by U.S. Navy to comply with environmental laws governing use of mid-frequency sonar.
