Eric Hayden is an associate in the Newport Beach office of Irell & Manella LLP, where he is a member of the firm's litigation practice group.
Mr. Hayden's experience extends to a broad variety of state and federal complex civil litigation matters, including those involving the First Amendment, anti-SLAPP motions, class actions, labor and employment, intellectual property, and arbitration.
In his practice at Irell & Manella, Mr. Hayden has defended multiple putative class actions involving a variety of employment claims. He successfully defeated certification of a putative class involving claims from six consolidated cases. He has extensively advised clients on First Amendment issues related to litigation. He has successfully defeated multiple anti-SLAPP motions and provided advice to clients regarding the same. Mr. Hayden also obtained temporary emergency and permanent injunctive relief on behalf of both institutional and individual clients who were victims of harassment and threats. He also successfully obtained dismissal of a lawsuit brought against a California state entity in the state of Georgia, and prevailed in upholding the dismissal in the 11th Circuit on appeal.
Mr. Hayden received his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School, where he was a member of the University of Chicago Law Review. He earned his B.A., summa cum laude, from Loyola Marymount University.
