Katherine G. McKeon

Katherine McKeon  is an associate in the Los Angeles office of Irell & Manella LLP, where she is a member of the firm's litigation and IP litigation practice groups.  Ms. McKeon has extensive experience handling complex commercial litigation and patent litigation matters in a variety of state and federal courts.

Ms. McKeon's experience includes:

  • A Section 337 ITC Investigation involving multiple software patents;
  • Complex commercial litigation in Delaware Chancery Court involving a contract dispute between an international restaurant chain and its franchisees;
  • Patent litigation in the Southern District of New York involving an insurance-related business method patent;
  • Patent litigation in the Northern District of California involving a prenatal testing patent.

Ms. McKeon is a member of the firm's hiring committee.  She recently co-authored an article titled "Obstruction of Justice and Making False Statements: Where the Cover up is Worse than the Crime," which was published in the March 2010 issue of the ABA-National Institute's publication on White Collar Crime.

Ms. McKeon earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School in 2009, where she was a Contributing Editor of the Michigan Law Review and an Associate Editor of the Michigan Telecommunications and Technology Law Review.  While in law school, Ms. McKeon served as Secretary of the Law School Student Senate and received Certificates of Merit in Torts and Legal Ethics.  She  earned her B.S., magna cum laude,  in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Southern California in 2006, where she was a Trustee Scholar.  As an undergrad, Ms. McKeon received the Women in Science and Engineering Merit Research Grant and was a member of the W.V.T Rusch Engineering Honor Society and the Thematic Option Honors Writing Program.
