Melissa Sedrish Rabbani is an associate in the Los Angeles office of Irell & Manella LLP, where she is a member of the firm's litigation and IP litigation practice groups. Ms. Rabbani has experience representing a variety of clients in patent litigation matters. Most recently, she was a member of the Irell team that secured a settlement of more than $250 million for TiVo in a patent infringement suit against Verizon. Ms. Rabbani was also a member of the Irell team that secured a settlement of more than $215 for TiVo in a patent infringement suit against AT&T. She continues to represent TiVo in other patent matters.
Prior to joining Irell, Ms. Rabbani was an associate at a large firm in New York, where she gained experience handling antitrust and general commercial litigation matters in a broad variety of industries, including the financial and pharmaceutical sectors. Ms. Rabbani also worked as a law clerk for the Honorable Andrew J. Guilford of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
In addition to her practice, Ms. Rabbani currently serves on the firm’s Hiring Committee, Women’s Committee, and CLE Committee. She was recently appointed as Co-Chair of the Los Angeles Intellectual Property Law Association's Monthly Meetings Committee.
Ms. Rabbani earned her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School, where she was a Contributing Editor of the Michigan Law Review and a Clarence Darrow Scholar. She earned her A.B. in Government from Harvard University.
Ms. Rabbani is proficient in Spanish.
