Leanne Vanecek is an associate in the Los Angeles office of Irell & Manella LLP, where she is a member of the firm’s litigation practice group. Ms. Vanecek's practice encompasses a wide range of litigation, including commercial litigation, securities litigation, and white collar criminal defense. She also has extensive experience representing clients in connection with privacy matters, including advising large organizations regarding the consequences of data-breach incidents and potential violations of U.S. and state privacy laws, such as HIPAA, FERPA, and California Civil Code §1798.82. Ms. Vanecek has represented both individuals and companies in the health care, education, government and mortgage sectors.
Ms. Vanecek also maintains an active pro bono practice. In connection with Public Counsel, she represented a pro bono client in a collections case in which she helped successfully negotiate a settlement on the client's behalf that led to the action being dismissed with prejudice, and obtained return of the client's garnished wages.
In addition to her practice, Ms. Vanecek is an active member of the firm's Women's, Summer and Hiring Committees.
Ms. Vanecek earned her J.D. from UCLA School of Law in 2011, where she served as a Symposium Editor for the UCLA Law Review and was named to the Order of the Coif. She earned her B.A. in Theatre, summa cum laude, from Arizona State University in 2004.
