Irell Partner Appointed LA Superior Court JudgePrint PDF
Irell & Manella partner Joseph M. Lipner was appointed by Governor Brown to a judgeship on the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
"I can't think of anyone better suited than Joe to serve on the bench," said Irell Managing Partner Ellisen Turner. "While we will miss Joe’s incredible intellect, kindness, and collegiality here, we could not be more proud of him and more happy for Los Angeles County that he will bring those qualities to the bench. We are extremely honored that our firm has proven to be such a fertile source for extraordinary lawyers with the attributes that lead to outstanding public service as judges and in many other distinguished posts."
Lipner has been a partner at Irell since 1996, where he was an associate from 1991 to 1996. He was a litigation associate to Professor Alan Dershowitz at Harvard Law School from 1989 to 1991. He served as a law clerk for the Honorable Ruth I. Abrams at the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court from 1988 to 1989. Lipner earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A. from Yeshiva College. He fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Carol B. Goodson.
