Law360 Minority Powerbrokers Q&A with Ellisen Turner
An interview with Irell & Manella partner Ellisen Turner was featured in a Law360 Minority Powerbrokers Q&A on January 13, 2015. In addition to discussing diversity in the legal profession, Turner outlines his advice for younger lawyers. He recommends understanding the facts and the law better than anyone else in the room, maintaining integrity by ensuring promises are kept and treating all problems brought by clients, colleagues and family as one’s own. Turner also discusses the importance of determination and persistence, summarizing it with the statement, “Good, better, best, never let it rest, until your good is your better and your better is your best.”
Turner graduated from the University of Michigan Law School and the University of Southern California with a B.S. in computer engineering and computer science. Prior to attending law school, he worked as a software engineer for AlliedSignal Aerospace (now Honeywell International Inc.), Hewlett-Packard and IBM. Before joining Irell, Turner clerked for the Honorable Robert E. Payne of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
