Irell Named IP Litigation Department of the Year by The Recorder

04.2016

Irell & Manella was named the 2016 Intellectual Property Litigation Department of the Year by The Recorder. Published on April 12, the profile featured the firm’s $234-million verdict for WARF at trial against Apple, a momentous Federal Circuit victory for Ariosa Diagnostics, and a summary judgment win for Alnylam Pharmaceuticals Inc. and others in an inventorship dispute with the University of Utah over RNA interference patents.

The Recorder recognized California-based litigation practices in eight specialties that delivered exceptional results in their clients’ most critical and challenging matters over a 12-month period. To choose the winners, the editors reviewed 148 nominations looking for decisive victories at trial and on appeal. The editors considered the degree of difficulty, dollar value and importance of each matter to the client; the depth and breadth of the practice; and the use of strategic approaches that proved successful.
