Irell Secures Jury Verdict Finding Samsung in Material Breach of Joint Development and License Agreement

03.2025

Irell secured a trial victory for client Netlist in a suit against Samsung, which involves patents relating to computer memory technology. This is the fifth victory for Netlist in the past two years. The case centers on allegations that Samsung breached a 2015 agreement to supply crucial NAND and DRAM memory products at a competitive price in exchange for licenses to Netlist memory patents. The jury returned its verdict in less than two hours agreeing with Netlist that Samsung breached the agreement.

The case is Netlist Inc. v. Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.

The Irell team includes Jason Sheasby, Lisa Glasser, Michael Harbour, Isabella Chestney, Taylor Hatridge and Andrew Strabone.
