Four Irell Attorneys Named to the Daily Journal's 2019 Top IP Lawyers

04.2019

Rebecca Carson, Morgan Chu, Jonathan Kagan and Jason Sheasby were recognized among the Daily Journal’s 2019 Top IP Lawyers. The list honors the 75 California lawyers who have made the biggest mark in the intellectual property field. No other firm has more attorneys on the list than Irell.

The Daily Journal noted Rebecca's recent work included a trial victory for Juniper Networks, Inc. in hard-fought patent infringement litigation with Finjan, Inc. Morgan was recognized for assisting NantKwest in persuading an en banc panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit to reverse the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office position that applicants who appeal an adverse decision to a district court – even when successful – must foot the agency’s legal fees. The publication noted that Morgan is set to argue the issue before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Jonathan was recognized for helping Juniper win the patent infringement trial against Finjan. The Daily Journal pointed out Jason's $400 million jury verdict for KAIST in its patent infringement litigation with Samsung, as well as his reversal for Gilead Sciences of the largest patent verdict in history for infringement of a single patent, $2.5 billion, in post-trial litigation.
