Irell Secures $191 Million for Pictiva

Irell secured a victory for Pictiva Displays International in a patent infringement lawsuit against Samsung. In October 2023, Pictiva filed a lawsuit against Samsung accusing it of infringing on Pictiva’s patents related to OLED technology. Samsung argued it should pay $1.7 million.

On November 3, 2025, Samsung was found to have infringed on two of Pictiva’s patents and the jury awarded our client $191 million.

The case, Pictiva Displays International Ltd. v. Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., was heard before Judge Rodney Gilstrap in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
