Tom Werner joined the Los Angeles office of Irell & Manella LLP as an associate in 2002.
Mr. Werner has developed a litigation practice advising clients regarding discovery, in particular regarding electronic discovery and electronic document management. This practice emphasizes the use of litigation technology to make document preservation, collection, production, review, and management more effective and efficient. Mr. Werner's practice consists primarily of large scale United States District Court litigations and International Trade Commission (ITC) investigations, typically involving patent issues.
Prior to his legal career, Mr. Werner served over five years in a variety of positions at Vulcan, Microsoft co-founder Paul G. Allen's investment management company. Mr. Werner worked for several Allen companies, including Experience Music Project, The Hospital, Storyopolis, and Vulcan Ventures. Upon his departure to attend law school, Mr. Werner managed business and legal affairs for the film production and financing unit of Vulcan Productions (née Clear Blue Sky Productions).
