Irell Team Scores Daily Journal CLAY Award for $2.3B VLSI Victory

04.2023

Morgan Chu, Ben Hattenbach and Alan Heinrich were honored with a Daily Journal 2023 California Lawyer Attorneys of the Year (CLAY) Award for securing a $2.3 billion final judgment for VLSI Technology in a patent suit against Intel. CLAY awards recognize matters in the previous year that had a major impact on society and the law. The VLSI win was one of 15 matters recognized in categories including complex civil litigation, criminal law and civil rights. In the write-up on the award, the Daily Journal also noted the $948 million verdict the team obtained for VLSI in a different patent case against Intel.

The trial teams in both cases also included Keith Orso, Ian Washburn, Elizabeth Tuan, Thomas Barr, Babak Redjaian, Charlotte Wen, Benjamin Manzin-Monnin and Jordan Nafekh.
