Netlist Negotiates Patent License and Settlement with Micron

10.2026

On October 6, Irell client Netlist, Inc. announced patent license and settlement agreements with Micron Technology, Inc. Under the agreements, Micron will receive a five-year term license to Netlist's patent portfolio, including patents covering server DIMMs and High Bandwidth Memory technologies. Micron will pay Netlist $30 million per quarter from the fourth quarter of 2026 through the third quarter of 2031, totaling $600 million during the term.

Netlist negotiated a similar settlement with Samsung in August of this year.

This ends all pending litigation between the two companies.

Irell previously secured a trial victory for Netlist in a suit against Micron, which involves patents relating to computer memory technology. The jury found both asserted patents willfully infringed by Micron and awarded $445 million in damages. In August, legal proceedings were instituted before the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) against Micron, Supermicro, HPE, and Lenovo and the ITC launched an investigation in late September.

The Irell team includes Jason Sheasby, Annita Zhong, Lisa Glasser, Michael Harbour, Andrew Strabone, Stephen Payne, Rebecca Carson, Tony Rowles, Matt Ashley, Michael Tezyan, Ben Manzin-Monnin, Blair Silver, Michael Rosen, Drew Henderson, Isabella Chestney, Connor He-Schaefer, Lucas Oxenford, Erick Franklund, Ada Liu, Ke Yang, Taylor Hatridge, Megan Dieffenbach, Jacob Park, Thomas Barr, and Tom Werner.
